Find Articles in Newspapers

Several databases allow you to search for articles in newspapers. Many provide online full-text for most articles. When online full-text is not availble, you can use the Library’s collections of newspapers in print and in microform.

African-American Newspapers: The 19th Century provides full-text articles from major African American newspapers published in the United States in the 19th century.

Lexis-Nexis Academic provides access to full text news stories. Coverage for most titles is 1980-present.

Los Angeles Times complete full-text content of local and regional news, including community events, schools, politics, government policies, cultural activities, local companies, state industries, and people in the community for 1985-present.

Los Angeles Times - Historical provides full text access (pdf) from the beginning of the newspaper in 1881 through 1984.

NewsBank Full-Text Newspapers (America's Newspapers) provides complete full-text of local and regional newspapers, including the Los Angeles Times.

The Times of London (Palmer's Index) provides access to citations for articles from The Times of London, 1790-1905.

The Wall Street Journal provides access to full text of the Eastern edition, 1984-present.

World News Connection provides access to the full-text English language translations of foreign news service articlesand other news items from the Foreign Broadcast Information Service (FBIS).
