The Frederic Goudy (1865–1947) Collection includes books, manuscripts, and memorabilia by and about the famous American designer of type who, in the early 1940s, designed the Scripps Modern and Italic type faces for the proprietary use of the Scripps College Press. Denison Library has his original pencil drawings of the type, the cardboard and lead patterns used in cutting the matrices, and the matrices themselves.
