Special Collections contains a number of gifts of documents and manuscripts pertaining to the Philippines and the Pacific, including the Hollis P. Allen Collection.

Allen, Professor of Education at the Claremont Graduate University (1929–1960) served in the Philippines during World War II. Allen realized the historical importance of the Japanese propaganda being produced during the occupation, and the destruction of Philippine documents and books. The collection contains newspapers, speeches, correspondence, posters and other publications, ranging in date from 1942–1945.
