The Lindley Scrapbooks were assembled by Dr. Walter Lindley, early resident of Los Angeles, during the late nineteenth century and first years of the twentieth century and are a part of the Francis Haynes Lindley Memorial Collection. Thirty-one scrapbooks document Dr. Lindley’s life and professional, civic, and political activities. Founder of the California Hospital and mayoral candidate in 1904, Lindley also served on the boards of Whittier State School for Boys and the City Library. Scrapbooks document the California Health Resort Company in Idyllwild and Lindley’s travels and interest in Shakespeare as well.
