The Scripps College Archives which serve as a significant record for the study of the institution and for the history of women’s education in general is also housed at Denison Library. In addition to official publications of the College and the student body, the Archives include faculty, alumnae and student publications, senior theses, student newspapers, construction records and blueprints, unpublished papers of faculty and trustees, records of the development of the curriculum, and a large photograph collection which pictorially chronicles the history of the College. Of special interest are the extensive Ellen Browning Scripps Papers (view online finding aid) which include personal and business records, correspondence, and other ephemera of Miss Scripps (1836–1932), the founder of the College. The collection also includes ephemera from her family, most of whom were associated with journalistic and philanthropic endeavors.
